Less crap. More fun.
The goal of gameDB is simple: to bring you the best information about games and entertainment products for your favorite platforms. By registering for the site, you gain access to a system that tailors itself to your needs. In short: we filter out the crap so you can have more fun.
Gaming sites nowadays have become wastelands built by semi-talented Flash animators. They load so much crap into your browser that you can barely read or view anything. We've decided to take the opposite approach, and bring clarity and simplicity to what a gaming site can be, while emphasizing customization and community. Come here for information, but by all means get what you're looking for, and go play some games. Your brain will thank you later.
Labor of love.
This site has existed since 1999. It was previously known as the Mac Game Database, and during that time it has been operated as a free service for the Mac games community. We've done that because we're Mac fans ourselves, and we wanted a good resource for ourselves as much as for anyone else.
The thing is, in the past several years, the gaming landscape has become more complex. The Mac platform is expanding by leaps and bounds, but after the Intel switch, Macs can run Windows, so why stop at covering just Mac titles? And then you add in handhelds and cell phones and consoles, and the lines between each of them continue to blur every day.
All of this led us to completely rethink what gameDB was, and what it could be. We're starting out small, but we have big ideas. So we'll continue doing what we do, but with some new faces who are helping us cover new platforms. And we'll do it because we love to game.
